You have a great gallery. I'm having trouble identifying a bird that I took a photo of in the marsh today (I'm in south Louisiana). Do you think you could help?

Photos are beautiful; thanks for sharing. Yesterday I saw a Rufusided-towhee, think that was one; dark head, beige sides and burnt lite orange underneath; beautiful bird; first one to ever see. Would they be in our area? Have you seen the alcoa.com site with the eagle cam? Watched the two Eagles last yr. raise three eaglets;they are on the nest again. love the site. Added you to my favorites.

Enjoyed your photos, especially the fish, as i love fly fishing. I was interested in your pictures of trout from bowmans creek near Harveys lake. Spent many a day fishing and swimm ing at Evans falls on Bowmans as a youth. Spent many summers camping at harveys lake in the 50,s and 60,s. hope to get back to bowmans this spring . I took a picture of a heron with what I thought was a fish in it's bill. On a closer look this "fish" seems to have at the very least two front paws and a kind of thick flat tail. May I send you a picture of it please for identification?
Your photos are magnificent and I will come back often.

Mus, I also am in N.E. PA --- caught your post/link on Hunting PA site and that was my lucky day for finding quality birding pics.
Thanks for sharing, your pictures are the best I've seen --- I'm now inspired to make a more serious effort at birding.

While searching for images of American Chestnut trees, I came upon an image of an Indigo Bunting. Being ignorant of the existence of such a beautiful bird, I then changed my search to images of the Indigo Bunting, which led me to your page. How fortunate for me! Your pictures are all so beautiful and I am discovering so many different species of bird that I never knew existed. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous shots. Everything here is just breathtaking! Now I am going back to look at all of your photos. Guess I won't be getting much done today.

I especially liked the flock of geese in front of the moon. I was thinking how long you need to wait for such a sight until I noticed that the flock is the same as in the previous picture of geese. Nice work though.

Would love to use your images of tiger muskellunge and striped bass for a field guide we are publishing on Ontario's fishes. Although we are an educational institution (Royal Ontario Museum) we would be willing to pay a reasonable rate for a one time use of your images. Please let me know if you are interested.

Hello! Your photos are stunning, excellent quality, beautifully presented and arranged. I was trying to identify one of the new birds that has visited my back yard, and thanks to your photography, I have! I'm in Philadelphia, just down the state from you, so some of our birds are similar, but you've captured them magnificently. Thank you for your site!

Hey Uncle Chuck!
I couldn't believe it when I happened upon your website when looking for photos of Pennsylvania birds! What a nice surprise to see all of your beautiful photos. Recently I've developed an interest in birds of the world but thought I'd start doing some birdwatching right in my own yard. I wanted to be able to identify some of the birds that I spotted and just by coincidence happened on your site! Beautiful pictures of nature as well, I really enjoyed what I had time to look at, and I added your page to my "Favorites" list. Love you, Kari

I am doing a presentation this weekend for a Cub Scout Pack Meeting and needed some great photos of PA birds. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SITE! You have wonderful pictures of one of my most favortie subjects...birds. I am originally from New England so I do miss some of the warblers that do not nest here and the Loons ( my most favorite) but am enjoying the variety of birds here in the Mountains. Thanks again. Hello,
I am a volunteer and member of Greater Ozarks Audubon in Springfield, Missouri. You have some absolutely stunning photos. I'm a birder, and have a Nikon 995 plus scope, but unfortunately not the patience of a photographer. However I can admire an artist's composition and talent to capture wildlife at its best. Could I use some of your photos in a bird identification program for my chapter (only). This is strictly not for profit, but enjoyment and education for our membership. Lisa Berger goshawk@att.net
Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Mr. Mus,
Okay, here's a voice from the past-Christy VanOrman (now Dryer). I was wandering around the internet and found Benton's website and then your site/pictures and decided to say hi. I am married, with two teenagers now (can't believe I am that old!) and I have my Master's degree in Nursing. I teach nursing at a Community college in Maryland. Just think, it all started in your biology class!! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thank you for all that you did for me in high school. Please say hi to Mr. Burgess and Mr. Powlus for me too. Take care, Christy Dryer

Thanks for your kind comments Muskrat. About 175 bird species pass thru Central Park in an average year. Unfortunately, Pileated Woodpecker is not one of them. Your bird and nature photos are excellent - I'll need lots of time to go through them all.

I wanted to say that I very much enjoyed your galleries. All very nice.

I was wondering if you knew what kind of bird this was. Thanks!

Marty....they sure are "sight" to see. We have a few pair that frequent our woodlot, here in PA. A tough bird to photograph...even when you get close, they NEVER stay still...they are in constant motion! Good Luck!

Muskrat,I live in a heavily wooded area of central Oklahoma and recently spotted the largest and most colorful Woodpecker I've ever seen. Thanks to your site I identify it with the "pileated".My attempts to photograph it were unsuccesful, but what a sight. It must have been a good 12" tall as it was perched on the side of the tree.I'll be watching for it and have my camera loaded.

Thank you a million times; your photos are magnificent. I live in an area heavily populated by many different birds and have always had a hard time recongnizing each one even though I see them every day when they visit the many feeders I have for them. I now just visit your site and I can tell my husband just what feathered friends can to visit me while he was at work. Again thank you so very much

Hi, Muskrat,

I'm drafting my next monthly report and would like to get permission to use your small picture of the pretty female Indigo Bunting in your Songbirds portfolio.

I am adding a new "Trip Reports" section to my personal web page and would like to include your picture since I will be relating a birding experience that involved buntings. Of course, I'd credit your name and add a link to your site so that my readers may view it. I will also provide another link with detailed info under my Links section. Should you give me permission, I would also like to know how I would credit your picture: Muskrat or something else?

Here's my last report so you may see how I credit photographers and if you would feel comfortable having your work on my pages:

http://home.att.net/~arleen.obrien/BirdJoyDec2004.html

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for dropping by my bird gallery. I really like your galleries. It reminds me of our trips back east to see family in Virginia. I really like the cardinals. Closest thing we have on the west coast to the blue jay is the stellar jay.

What size images does your Sony camera take? Mine average about 40KB in size and I am looking for a new camera that has 10X Zoom. Any suggestions? You have some really nice photos!
