I've followed your photos through the web and after viewing your own site I found these galleries here. Amazing work, Jude. I can't imagine having a mind and soul that coule enable a person to create these images. Emotion is in every single photo, and it's not that easy to do in one, let alone whole galleries full. regards Phillip

Jude, At the risk of being too dramatic, your galleries, along with niall o'shea's, are my favorite collections here. I look at them and feel much the same as watching Tiger Woods play. Hey Jude (no pun intended), Thanks for the groovy messages you've left over the past few months, I am (sadly) often short of the time, and I would dearly like to view the work of people that are kind enough to leave critique or encouragement for me. And I am always impressed when I see your work, because it bustles with energy, insight and intrigue. I was surprised to hear your comments about me being technical, it made me chuckle, as I normally feel I don’t understand it all. Perhaps why I make such an effort to get my head around it. But I get most of it from books and websites, and the rest is down to experimentation, you wouldn’t believe all the (hundreds) of failed images that get deleted. If you wanna swap sources of books etc let me know I could recommend some great easy to use books, and be interested to know any you use. Warm regards, Nick

Hi Jude, you left a message on my PaD asking about ISO 3200 on the Rebel. The Rebel has some of the capabilities of the 10D built into it but Canon has left them disabled. ISO 3200 is one of those things. There's a hacked version of the firmware you can download off the 'net, if you're so inclined, that enables some of those disabled features. You have a beautiful gallery here. I'm going to go peruse it for awhile.

Hello Jude! Here is the method I used on my Sept 25 photo that you asked about... I like to play with BW conversions to see what I can come up with. I did one for Sept 26, but I don't like it much. It makes Ethan look like a ghost!! LOL Take care, JD OK, I reduced the yellow and red saturation, then converted to BW using calculations, set to Gray, Blue, Screen 60%. I then did a levels adjustment to get max dynamic range without blowing the highlights. I did a little dodging and burning overall. I then hit SHIFT-ALT-CNTRL-TILDE to select the light areas of the image. I inverted the selection and filled in a new layer with a medium orange-brown. I did a gaussian blur on this layer, and changed the blending mode to multiply and reduced capacity to about 60%. I went back to the base layer and did SHIFT-ALT-CNTRL-TILDE to select light areas again. I filled it on a new layer with an almost white pink color. I did a heavy gaussian blur, changed the blending mode to softlight and set opacity to about 30%. I copied the eyes from the base layer and put them on top. I did a series of levels adjustments and sharpening to get them to look as they do. I just make this stuff up as I go and see how it comes out. I like this one...

Its usually very easy to reply with appreciation and to return compliments but I must say in your case I honestly don't know where to start!?! Your composition, lighting, choice of subject matter.... ALL fantastic and excellent! Is it Jude? or Annie? I also sometimes will point out a favorite of yours that I like. I didn't think I would find one... BUT,... your "Still Dreaming" image caught my eye. Did you consciously arrive at that composition / angle? or was it by accident? I can't explain but I was captivated by that image. I would like to know only because if it was by accident then I should apologize for complimenting a photo that was most likely fast and easy!? Not to say that the rest of your work looks like it was painstaking and tremendous setting up! One might be inclined to say that about your work because it is SO good... Take Care, Hector
