Hummm... interesting statement, "digital has changed the way we think about phoptography"...
I think you are right, especially in the context of the "ways of displaying and sharing" as you say...
I think that the front side of the process however, hasn't changed.... we still look for light and contrast and texture and form and emotion, drama, danger, fear and all the other things photographers endevour to capture. Personally, I havn't done much digitally, at least on the image capture side of things, but, as evidenced with work such as yours as well as many pthers here on PBase, I am confident with my statement.
At any rate, I am curious about the black and white digital work you do; you have been around long enough to have shot plenty of Plus-X et. al., so i know that you know what I am asking; do you concieve your b&w as such when taking the pictures? I wonder if using a digital SLR with the display being in b&w ( I am not too familiar with digital cameras really) would be helpful. One of the challenges i enjoy about shooting b&w is how I must adjust my mind-set... sometimes I wish IO could really "see" in b&w! I suppose it would be somehow ironic if I got into digital in order to further explore b&w. Imagine a 4x5 view camera with a full size b&w digital display!!
Any, thanks for "listining".... I particularly like your b&w work, the Mary Pierce image, "Peace" Abandoned, The port of Chania photo... vary nice images... i bet they are beautiful when well printed.
Take care...
