Do not expect miracles here. It is the so called "vacation zoom." But the results for the 2-3Mpix web posting are quite decent. Consider application of the lens profile a must. Foremost to correct the quite nasty barrel distortions and other faults. I see in Lightroom how massive the difference is, when the lens profile is being applied. Also chromatic aberrations are sometimes excessive. Thus, use it for casual action (snap)shots and travel, but take better glass for more demanding purposes. In a direct compare to the Tamron 16-300 the Nikkor looks better, at least my copy of the lens. I have not had the newer and smaller 18-300 f3.5-6.3, which DxO mark places slightly above this lens.
